About this Cookie Policy

This policy explains how BrickMetrics uses cookies and similar browser-storage technologies when you visit our website or use our services.

BrickMetrics is operated by Steve Parkinson, trading as BrickMetrics. Questions about this policy can be sent to support@brickmetrics.co.uk.

For information about how we use personal information more generally, read our Privacy Policy.

02

What cookies and browser storage are

Cookies are small pieces of data that a website asks your browser to store. A cookie may last only for the current browser session or remain until its expiry date or deletion.

Local storage and session storage are browser features that allow a website to remember information on your device. They are not cookies, but this policy explains them because they serve similar purposes.

03

Strictly necessary session cookies

BrickMetrics uses a PHP session cookie to maintain a secure connection between your browser and your current session.

The session cookie supports:

  • registration security and form validation;
  • sign-in and authenticated account access;
  • temporary error and success messages;
  • account, payment, and setup handoffs; and
  • protection against certain unauthorised requests.

This cookie is necessary to provide the service you request. If you block or delete it, registration, login, and authenticated features may stop working or require you to sign in again.

04

Operational process cookies

Some legacy BrickMetrics workflows may set a short-lived or persistent cookie to record that a background process has completed. For example, a process-completion cookie may remain for up to 30 days.

These cookies support the operation and status display of a feature. They are not used for advertising.

05

Local storage

BrickMetrics uses local storage to remember choices on your device. Depending on the features you use, this may include:

  • whether you acknowledged the cookie information banner;
  • whether the V3 sidebar is collapsed;
  • selected table columns and display preferences;
  • a preferred camera for scanning features; and
  • small migration flags used when interface preferences change.

Local-storage values normally remain until you clear site data, the application replaces or removes them, or your browser deletes them.

06

Session storage

Some BrickMetrics workflows use session storage to remember temporary interface state, such as which inventory item should regain focus after a reload.

Session-storage values normally remain only for the current browser tab or session and are not used for advertising.

07

Analytics and advertising cookies

BrickMetrics does not currently set Google Analytics or advertising cookies through the V3 pages covered by this policy.

If we introduce non-essential analytics, advertising, or similar tracking technologies, we will update this policy and provide any consent controls required by law before using them.

08

Third-party websites and services

BrickMetrics links to or uses services operated by third parties, including marketplaces and payment providers.

When you leave BrickMetrics to visit a third-party website, such as Stripe checkout or a marketplace page, that provider may set its own cookies or browser storage. Its cookie and privacy policies apply independently.

Loading a third-party technical resource may also share ordinary connection information, such as your IP address and browser details, with the provider serving that resource.

09

Managing cookies and browser storage

You can inspect, block, or delete cookies and site data using your browser settings. Browser controls differ by provider and device.

Blocking the essential session cookie will prevent registration, login, and other account features from working correctly. Clearing local storage will reset saved interface preferences but should not delete the account information held by BrickMetrics.

Browser private or incognito modes may remove cookies and stored preferences when the private session closes.

10

How long cookies remain

Session cookies normally expire when the applicable session ends, although the exact lifetime may depend on the feature and browser behaviour.

Persistent cookies and local-storage values remain for the period described in this policy, until their configured expiry, or until they are deleted or replaced.

11

Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy when our website, storage technologies, service providers, or legal obligations change. The current version will display its effective date.

We will take reasonable steps to bring material changes to your attention where appropriate.
